Study on Coating and Insulation Effect Using Emulsified Modification Bitumen

Najmuddin Mohd Ramli

Resumen

The operation theatre has to maintain the temperature lower than the ambient condition which may result in condensation and lead to fungi problems. The aim of this research is to eradicate the fungi problems by analysing the effect on coating and insulation by using Emulsified Modification Bitumen (EMB). The bitumen with penetration value of 60/70 will be modified with recycle base oil at five different ratios and mix with cationic emulsifier and deionised water. Next, the EMB will be coated and dried on top surface of a substrate (drywall) and will be compared with the industrial grade bitumen emulsion. From the analysis the EMB 05 is the best formulated bitumen emulsion with percentage area removal more than 65%. The accelerated, natural and cooling ageing period are 296days, 1107 days and 893days. The total heat transfer (q) at temperature of 60 ?, 45 ?, 30 ? and 27 ? are 1.14W, 0.79W, 0.70W and 0.65W. It can be concluded that the ageing period and insulation effect are directly proportional to the bitumen composition.
