Resumen
The paper deals with a research approach for vehicle braking in regard to the coefficient of tire adhesion with the road surface. An attempt was made to define physical meaning of the terms ?external friction?, ?frictional loads? and ?coefficient of friction? necessary for the procedure of studying the circumstances of a traffic accident. It was found out that very often in the course of accident investigation it is necessary to determine the coefficient of tire adhesion during ?full-lock skidding? of the car. It was stated that the experimental method for calculation of the coefficient is the most reliable. However, the existing practical methods are not universal, that is why it is impossible to use them all for every case. Besides, technical condition of the car after accident not always makes it possible to carry out trial running inspections. An experimental installation eliminating the shortcomings in experimental determination of the unknown values was suggested. The obtained results would be useful for investigations and examination of traffic accidents.
