Resumen

We employ as a speeding-accident rate index the probability of an accident caused by speeding on a curved expressway. This is defined as the probability that the actual speed of a car entering a curve exceeds the maximum safe speed of the curve in accordance with the driver's perceived speed. The aim of this paper is to consider advantages of the proposed index through driving simulation experiments for comparison with existing indices. The results show that inducing a perceived speed that reduces the difference between the perceived speed and maximum safe speeds is an effective measure for reducing speeding accidents in curves.
