Resumen

In this new era of modern generation, steel is a very important material in our world. Due to its material characteristic, steel is a cheap material and has strong tensile strength. Therefore, steel is used in many parts in the world like buildings, automobiles, machines, tools, ships and even weapons. In this research, the utilization of Electrical Arc Furnace (EAF) Steel Slag will be focused on. Steel slag is the byproduct from steelmaking industries. Steel slag can be characterized by using many methods such as Scanned Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-Ray Fluorescent (XRF). Ferric Chloride can be used as wastewater coagulant in wastewater treatment process. In order to produce Ferric Chloride from steel slag, hydrochloric acid is used as leaching reagent. Different parameters such as reaction time, acid concentration, slag particle size were used in order to optimize the experimental results. To quantify ferric chloride in solution, Inductive Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and redox titration were applied.
