Resumen

The article deals with the analysis of the work of Traction Motor Protecting System on electric locomotives DE1, which protects the motors from inner and outer short circuits in the mode of recuperative breaking. The calculations have revealed that the system in question, installed by the producer, does not meet the requirements of protecting the motors from short circuits in the recuperative mode. For extra protection of the motors from outer, and especially ? from inner short circuits, the authors suggest complementing the system by quick-acting contactors from the «earth» side, with automatic forced demagnetization of traction motor excitation windings, operating in generator mode, with the recuperative current during the protection activation.
