Resumen
Este texto debate as tensões existentes entre duas perspectivas interpretativas sobre os determinantes sociais da saúde e evidencia, no âmbito da ação profissional, o impacto na garantia e na expansão do direito à saúde em decorrência da adoção de uma ou de outra perspectiva. Para tanto, refaz a trajetória histórica e teórica dos determinantes sociais, contextualiza o debate acerca do tema, apresenta os aspectos conceituais e as divergências centrais entre a posição considerada herdeira do modelo epidemiológico norte-americano e a posição construída a partir da epidemiologia social latino-americana. Conclui destacando desafios e possibilidades às Unidades de Ensino de Serviço Social visando uma formação acadêmica qualificada, tanto para a intervenção quanto para as análises referentes as interfaces entre o Serviço Social e a área da saúde.Palavras-chave: Determinantes sociais da saúde, direito à saúde, política de saúde, ação profissional.SOCIAL DETERMINANTS IN HEALTHCARE: the theoretical debate and the right to healthcareAbstract: This text debates the tensions between two interpretative perspectives about social determinants in healthcare found in the realm of professional action, the impact on guarantees to and expansion of the right to healthcare due to the adoption of one or the other. The study retraces the historic and theoretical trajectory of social determinants, contextualizes the debate about the issue, presents the conceptual factors and the central disagreements between the position considered to be inherited from the U.S. epidemiological model and the position constructed from Latin American social epidemiology. It concludes by highlighting the challenges and opportunities for social service schools in providing qualified academic education for both interventions as well as for analyses about the relationship between social service and healthcare.Key words: Social determinants of healthcare, right to healthcare, healthcare policy, professional action.
