A ?NOVA?

Palavras-chave: Papel do Estado, dívida pública, excedente econômico, crescimento econômico, Amazônia.THE ?NEW? GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION, THE PUBLIC DEBT AND THE CUL-DE-SAC IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BRAZILIAN AMAZON Abstract: This communication intends to discuss the consequences of economic growth, particularly concerning the underdeveloped regions such as the Brazilian Amazon. It presents the 1990's country's option of prioritizing the spending with interest payment and the charges of the public debt vis à vis the expenditures with productive investments. The actual way of generating and sharing wealth, since it is extremely uneven, fosters the socio spatial inequalities that are at large in the country.  Keywords: The State?s role, public debt, economic surplus, economic growth, Amazon.
