Resumen
Although the empirical evidence shows the existence of a positive relationship between adoption of the TQM and an improvement in corporate performance, its dissemination is heterogeneous among the companies in the construction sector. The main objective of this work focuses on identifying the relevant factors that drive executives of construction companies in the adoption of the TQM. Specifically, it analyzes to what extent are determining the expectations that the directors of each company have on the incidence of the TQM in its business performance. The results show that they are precisely the expectations concerning the improvement of a financial nature, environmental issues, and the satisfaction of customers and employees that drive the managers of companies in the sector of the construction to the adoption of the TQM.
