Resumen
The construction industry has a high accident rate worldwide. Becauseof these negative figures, there are numerous studies by prestigiousauthors about how to measure the levels of safety and health inconstruction through indicators. These indicators can be classified basedon the following categories: a) Accidents recorded b) Risk assessment,c) Workload, d) Health and safety training, e) Perception of safety andhealth and f) Health and safety management. However, despite theimportance of indicators as a preventive tool, no studies have beenfound regarding the most appropriate indicators to measure the degreeof implementation of the concept of Prevention through Design incivil engineering construction projects. The purpose of this paper is toanalyze the main existing indicators to quantify the levels of safety andhealth in construction, and based on this analysis to propose and validateindicators to measure the Prevention through Design in civil engineeringprojects, using the staticized groups methodology. The informationprovided by the new proposed indicators is useful for improving safetylevels in construction companies.
