Corporate Sustainability Performance Benchmarking of Best Practicing Bangladeshi RMG Companies using Analytic Network Process (ANP)

Resumen

Bangladesh, a developing country, is transforming towards a manufacturing hub for many popular industrial brands. It has become an attractive place for the international retailers (IRs) in the readymade garments (RMG) sector for competitive rates, quality standards, and short lead time. In recent days, awareness of sustainability has compelled buyers to purchase goods and services from suppliers who can provide the assurance of supporting sustainability along with low costs, high quality, and short lead times. To incorporate sustainability, IRs periodically evaluate a firm?s sustainability performance as a part of their supplier selection and evaluation process. To address this issue, this study developed a ?Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) model using Analytic Network Process (ANP) to evaluate and rank five best-practising RMG companies based on their corporate sustainability performances. This benchmarking process may help firms to compare their corporate sustainability performance (CSP) in three dimensions e.g., economic, environmental, and social dimensions with other best-practising RMG companies. This model may help to identify the performance criteria that need more attention and in prioritising the sustainable business practices (SBPs), for enhancing the desired performance.
