Resumen
Este artigo discute a cultura popular como patrimônio cultural no contexto atual das políticas públicas de cultura e suas aplicações; no caso maranhense, a dança do Tambor de Crioula. Aponta que, no passado, manifestações de cultura popular eram perseguidas, e hoje são assumidas como patrimônio cultural do país. Destaca a dança do Tambor de Crioula que praticamente não era conhecida, passando a ser documentada somente há pouco tempo. Enfatiza o interesse de pesquisadores, fotógrafos, documentaristas, uma vez que o tema já aparece em livros, artigos de jornais e revistas, DVDs, CDs, com a presença de numerosos grupos registrados em São Luís. Apresenta, ainda, uma síntese sobre o conhecimento desta manifestação de cultura popular no passado e sua divulgação atual em função do interesse turístico-cultural e do apoio das políticas culturais. Abstract: This article proposes to discuss popular culture as cultural heritage in the current context of public cultural policies and their application in the case of ?Tambor de Crioula? in Maranhão. In the past, manifestations of popular culture were persecuted and they are now understood to be the country?s cultural heritage. The dance of ?Tambor de Crioula? was hardly known and documented until recently. It is now the interest of reserarchers, photographers, filmmakers, appearing in books, in newspapers and magazines articles, DVDs, CDs, as well as it is attended by numerous groups registered in the city of São Luís. A synthesis of knowledge of this manifestation of popular culture in the past and its current disclosure regarding the interests of tourism and culture and the support of cultural policies is presented in this paper.
