Relationship between Demographic Factors and Student Engagement and Personal Well-Being Among Business Management Students

     

Resumen

The success of students in educational institutions is greatly impacted by their level of engagement and well-being. The concept of student engagement equates to level of curiosity, passion and inquisitiveness shown by the student to the process of learning it relates to the degree to which the educators and teachers are able to stimulate the students towards the activities of the school in addition to the process of learning.  Well-being has been perceived to be a dynamic relationship between psychological, social and physical resources and challenges in the domain of student?s life. Well-being has positive relationship with the process and outcome of learning in the context of educational institutions. The extent to which a student can function effectively in these challenging situation needs to be analyzed as a complex interplay between the static factors, like demographic factors and dynamic factors like, engagement and well-being.  An attempt has been made in this paper to assess the level of student engagement and personal well-being of students in a premier business school with respect to the demographic variables.  The results indicate that the students who are higher in age, are married and are doing their executive program in management have a better feeling of well-being and a high level of engagement with the academic institute, while the factor of gender does not show any significant difference
