CHALLENGES OF THE OPERATION OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN GDANSK?GDYNIA?SOPOT METROPOLITAN AREA

Resumen

The functioning of public transport in the Gdañsk?Gdynia?Sopot metropolitanarea is accompanied by challenges related to its funding, directions for spatialdevelopment, coherence between residents? transport preferences and actions, takenby local authorities, environmental protection, including prospects for the implementationof electromobility. At the end of the nineteen-early-twentieth century, the twolargest cities in this Metropolitan Area adopted transport policies that set out the strategicobjectives and actions in shaping transport in their area. Nearly twenty yearshave passed since the adoption of documents by local authorities, it is worthwhile tosummarize the current activities in shaping to the individual and public transportsystem, to assess and identify the challenges and recommended actions for balancingmobility in the metropolitan area. This article was devoted to this issue.
