El trabajo aborda el uso de los modelos de difusión, herramienta útil para entender el desarrollo de tecnologías.La difusión de tecnologías no sigue un patrón único, es complejo y el desafío está en desarrollar modelos paralas Tecnologías Energética Renovables (TER). Las TER tienen un enorme potencial para satisfacer la demandamundial de energía eléctrica, pero el costo inicial y la falta de apoyo financiero es una barrera para su difusión.Son factores influyentes en la difusión, las características tecnológicas, micro-ambientales, el papel del gobierno,tipos de usuarios y la estructura del mercado. Se evidenció que la falta de éxito no implica lo inadecuado de latecnología. El desconocimiento tecnológico de quienes formulan las políticas y la insuficiente capacidad deempresarios para justificar el apoyo del gobierno, resultan unfreno al desarrollo y la difusión de las TER. Ello seacentúa enlas naciones del tercer mundo.The paper deals with the use of diffusion models, a useful tool to understand the development of technologies.The diffusion of technologies does not follow a unique pattern, it is complex and the challenge is in developingmodels for Renewable Energy Technologies TER.TERs have enormous potential to meet global demand forelectric power, but the initial cost and lack of financial support is a barrier to their diffusion. They areinfluential factors in the diffusion, the technological characteristics, micro-environmental, the role of thegovernment, types of users and the structure of the market. It was evidenced that the lack of success does notimply the inadequacy of the technology. The technological ignorance of those who formulate the policies and theinsufficient capacity of entrepreneurs to justify the support of the government, are a brake to the developmentand the diffusion of the TERs. This is accentuated in Third World nations.
