Adsorption of textiles dyes in active carbon, seaweed and sawdust: determination of adsorption isotherm

Resumen

Textile industries have environmental problems with their effluents due to high level of COD and color. Adsorption is one of the most important processes used to remove color from effluent. Adsorption isotherms of three adsorbing materials were determined: active carbon from the coconut bark, ground seaweed (a mixture mainly with Sargassum sp.) and sawdust (alternative material). Solutions with Red Remazol RG were employed for adsorption isotherms. While the Langmüir model for adsorption isotherms was the best fitted for active carbon and sawdust, the Freundlich model was the best for seaweed.
