Resumen
The high vehicle motorization index contributes to the deterioration of the air quality in the city, especially during smog periods. The paper presents selected infrastructure actions, undertaken by the authorities in the city of Kraków. They are aimed at the development of sustainable (eco) transport (public transport, bike paths, bus lanes) reducing the negative impact of cars. These performed actions are consistent with transport policy of the European Union, which assumes that passenger cars will disappear from urban streets by year 2050. At the basis of such an established aim, high attractiveness (mainly economic) of other alternative forms of transport, including public transport, cycling etc., is stated.
